Fly Modern Ark (FMA), a South African aviation services provider, has expressed its full cooperation with the forensic audit of LAM Mozambique Airlines’ financial accounts, a process initiated amid growing scrutiny of the state-owned carrier’s governance. At the same time, FMA has been forced to initiate legal proceedings to recover outstanding payments for services rendered to the Mozambican airline.
LAM (Mozambique Airlines) has expanded its operational fleet through the wet lease of a Boeing 737-500, bearing serial number 26538, from Via Air, a Central African Republic-based carrier. This move is aimed at strengthening LAM’s short- to medium-haul capacity during a period of strategic route adjustments and recovery.
LAM – Mozambique Airlines has significantly reduced the size of its operational fleet, now reportedly operating with only three aircraft after removing an unspecified number of Bombardier CRJ900s. The decision reflects a strategic fleet consolidation move amid financial and operational pressures.
LAM (Mozambique) has shortlisted 14 companies in the first phase of its tender process to acquire Embraer E190 and Boeing B737-700 aircraft. The number of aircraft to be acquired is expected to be between three and eight, supporting the airline’s fleet modernization and expansion strategy.
