Airbus continues to aim for a monthly production rate of 12 A350 aircraft by 2028, reaffirming its long-term production strategy despite supply chain challenges. The company has also revised the entry into service (EIS) timeline for the A350F, which is now expected in 2H 2027 instead of the previously estimated date.
Airbus has updated its January 2025 order book, reflecting several significant transactions. The most notable order came from Lufthansa, which placed an order for 25 Airbus A320neos, strengthening its narrowbody fleet.
Airbus is facing significant supply chain challenges, leading to a delay of up to one year for the A350F freighter program. Additionally, the manufacturer is encountering hurdles in increasing A350 production in the coming months due to component shortages and logistical constraints.
STARLUX Airlines (Taiwan) has placed a firm order with Airbus for an additional five A350F freighters, reinforcing its commitment to fleet modernization and expanding its cargo capacity. The new freighters will be powered by Trent XWB-97 engines, which offer superior fuel efficiency and performance.
Etihad Airways, the national carrier of the United Arab Emirates, has exercised its option to acquire three additional Airbus A350F freighters, bringing its total order to 10 aircraft. This move aligns with Etihad’s ambitious plans to expand its cargo operations significantly over the next five years.
