Maldivian, the national carrier of the Maldives, is set to expand its operational capacity with the introduction of a leased Airbus A330-200, serial 1161, beginning 17 January 2025. This move marks a significant step forward for the airline as it ventures into widebody operations, bolstering its fleet with larger aircraft to meet growing demand.
Air Peace, Nigeria’s largest private airline, is preparing to expand its fleet with the addition of a dry-leased Embraer E195, carrying serial number 19000029. In parallel, the airline has retired a Boeing 737-800, serial 28376, which has now been sent for dismantling in Wales. An additional four 737-800s are scheduled for retirement by the end of 2025.
VietJet Air, the Vietnamese low-cost carrier, has significantly expanded its relationship with Rolls-Royce through a major engine acquisition. The airline has placed an order for 40 Trent 7000 engines to power its fleet of 20 Airbus A330neo aircraft, further supported by a long-term TotalCare® service agreement for engine maintenance.
Vietravel Airlines, a Vietnamese carrier operating under the tourism-focused Vietravel Group, has received formal approval from its shareholders to increase its charter capital to $100 million. This significant move aims to bolster the airline’s financial foundation and support expansion efforts amid the region’s ongoing aviation recovery.
