Air Canada Issues Lockout Notice After CUPE Strike Warning
Air Canada has issued a statutory 72-hour lockout notice to the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), which represents 10,000 flight attendants at Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge, after the union declared its intent to strike. The airline will conduct a phased suspension of most operations over the next three days, aiming for an orderly shutdown to minimize disruption for passengers. Air Canada Express flights, operated by Jazz and PAL Airlines, will continue unaffected, but they account for only about 20% of daily traffic.
