Singapore Airlines A350 Suffers Suspected Tail Strike After Go-Around
Singapore Airlines has grounded one of its widebody aircraft following a suspected tail strike incident involving an Airbus A350-941 during a go-around at Singapore Changi Airport. The event occurred on January 24, 2026, during Flight SQ917, which was operating from Manila to Singapore.
The aircraft involved, registered as 9V-SHW, executed a go-around on final approach into Changi Airport before subsequently landing safely. While go-arounds are a routine and safety-driven procedure in commercial aviation, post-flight images circulated on aviation-focused platforms appeared to show visible damage to the tail section of the aircraft. These images led multiple industry observers to characterize the incident as a potential tail strike.
