SWISS, the flag carrier of Switzerland, has taken delivery of a new Airbus A320neo, bearing serial number 12565. The aircraft is powered by PW1127G-JM engines, part of the Pratt & Whitney GTF family, and will serve as a cornerstone in the airline’s drive for greater fuel efficiency and reduced emissions.
SWISS concluded 2024 with a strong operating profit of US$828 million, supported by total annual revenues of US$6.7 billion. The fourth quarter alone contributed US$216 million in operating profit on US$1.69 billion in revenue, capping a successful financial year for the carrier.
Lufthansa Group reported a 10% increase in revenue for the first quarter of 2025, reaching US$9.2 billion, while recording an adjusted EBIT loss of US$821 million. Despite the loss, the group maintained a strong liquidity position of US$12.9 billion.

SWISS has taken a strategic approach to managing its fleet by repurposing the two PW1524G-3 engines from a grounded A220-300, serial 55021, for use as spare engines. The aircraft has been stranded in Brussels since November 2024 and is now projected to remain out of service until autumn 2025.
SWISS International Air Lines has signed a Total Component Support (TCS) agreement with Lufthansa Technik (Germany) for its Airbus A350 aircraft. These A350s are scheduled to join SWISS’s long-haul fleet starting in 2025.
Klaus-Michael Kuhne, a significant shareholder of Lufthansa Group, has publicly voiced concerns about a perceived decline in service quality at Lufthansa and its subsidiary, SWISS. In his statement, Kuhne highlighted dissatisfaction with operational standards and hinted at plans to exert greater influence on the airline’s management to address these issues.
