SWISS, the flag carrier of Switzerland, has taken delivery of a new Airbus A321neo, bearing serial number 12436 and powered by PW1133G-JM engines. This addition is part of the airline’s ongoing fleet modernization strategy, focusing on fuel-efficient, next-generation aircraft.
SWISS has reported a robust financial performance for the 2024 fiscal year, achieving an operating profit of US$769 million. This marks the airline’s second-highest annual earnings in its history, following record results in 2023. The airline also recorded total revenues of US$6.2 billion, reflecting a 6% increase from the previous year and reaching an all-time high.

SWISS has taken a strategic approach to managing its fleet by repurposing the two PW1524G-3 engines from a grounded A220-300, serial 55021, for use as spare engines. The aircraft has been stranded in Brussels since November 2024 and is now projected to remain out of service until autumn 2025.
SWISS International Air Lines has signed a Total Component Support (TCS) agreement with Lufthansa Technik (Germany) for its Airbus A350 aircraft. These A350s are scheduled to join SWISS’s long-haul fleet starting in 2025.
Klaus-Michael Kuhne, a significant shareholder of Lufthansa Group, has publicly voiced concerns about a perceived decline in service quality at Lufthansa and its subsidiary, SWISS. In his statement, Kuhne highlighted dissatisfaction with operational standards and hinted at plans to exert greater influence on the airline’s management to address these issues.
