Air Canada Flight Attendant Wage Dispute Moves To Arbitration

Air Canada and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) have agreed to proceed directly to arbitration on the wage component of the tentative four-year agreement covering the airline’s flight attendants. The development follows CUPE’s September 12, 2025, request to cancel mediation, with Air Canada agreeing in the interest of cooperation.

Air Canada And CUPE Enter Mediation After Deal Rejected

Air Canada and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) are moving to mediation after union members voted against a tentative agreement covering the airline’s 10,000 flight attendants. The proposed deal, reached on August 19, 2025, was achieved without concessions from the union and included improvements to wages, pensions, and benefits, as well as modernization of compensation for ground duties.
