Airbus has committed to providing an additional $94 million in financial support to Spirit AeroSystems, increasing its total assistance to the U.S.-based aerostructures manufacturer to $152 million. This move comes amid efforts to stabilize production and supply chain challenges that have impacted major aircraft programs, particularly the A220 and A320neo families for which Spirit is a key supplier.
COMAC, the Chinese aircraft manufacturer, has made a strategic proposal to acquire a minimum 51% ownership stake in Lao Airlines, the national carrier of Laos. The offer is part of the Laotian government’s effort to address long-standing financial issues and operational inefficiencies that have plagued the airline for years.
Airbus is intensifying its efforts to secure new aircraft orders as it looks ahead to the Paris Air Show scheduled for mid-June 2025. The European aerospace giant is focusing on winning commitments for its A350 widebody aircraft, targeting key Gulf carriers Riyadh Air from Saudi Arabia and Etihad from the United Arab Emirates.
